Day 182: Béchamel Sauce

This is one of my favorite sauces. It's creamy, rich, and delicious all at the same time!

I've been wanting to make this Béchamel sauce for a long time now.

This is my grandma's recipe which was past down to my mom, and now to me!

Béchamel or "White Sauce" as it's sometimes called, is made with:

  1. Butter

  2. Flour

  3. Milk

  4. Salt/Pepper

It's so easy. I know the name sounds scary, but it's really not. It's done in less than five minutes and is perfect for pasta, pizza, dips and even sandwiches.

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 tablespoon butter

  • 2 tablespoons flour (I use whole wheat)

  • 1 cup warm whole milk

  • Salt/Pepper to taste

STEPS:

  1. Over medium low heat melt butter in a large saucepan. Add in your flour and stir until you can smell a nutty aroma.

  2. Add in your milk and stir until it thickens - around 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Enjoy!
