Day 320: Red Velvet Hot Chocolate Bombs

You voted for them! Here it is, red velvet hot chocolate bombs! They are easy to make and so fun to see erupt in the hot milk!

Video:

To make these red velvet hot chocolate bombs, you have two options.

Either you can buy red velvet hot chocolate and add that to the hot chocolate bomb shell, or just buy the regular hot chocolate mix.

Both ways work, and you'll get the red no matter what. Frankly, the classic hot chocolate mix is easier to find, so I recommend that.

Use a hot chocolate bomb mold to make the shell. Decorate these hot chocolate bombs with melted chocolate, sprinkles, or both!

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup melted red candy melts

  • 1/2 cup hot cocoa mix

  • 1/2 cup mini marshmallows

  • 1/4 cup melted chocolate, for drizzling

  • Additional fillings and toppings, as desired

STEPS:

  1. Take your hot chocolate bomb mold and spoon in a tablespoon worth of the melted red candy melts. With a brush or spoon, spread the candy melt all over so everything is covered. Chill for 10 minutes.

  2. Carefully take the hot chocolate bomb shell out of the mold. Fill half of them with a heaping spoonful of hot cocoa mix and a few marshmallows.

  3. On a small pan take an empty shell and melt the bottoms just slightly. Take a filled shell with the cocoa mix and join the two shells together, creating a ball. Do the same for the remaining shells. Drizzle the melted chocolate.

Enjoy!
