Week 11: Acai Bowls

I've really been enjoying acai bowls lately, but haven't had the opportunity to make them home. Instead of buying the bowl, here is a recipe to try them out in your kitchen!

Acai is found in the Amazon region and is a superfruit. They are small, dark-colored berries that are considered very nutritious.

It turns out that the skin of the berry is what gives their health benefits as it contains nutrients, fiber, and most antioxidants.

You can make a smoothie bowl out of acai by using it in the form of puree or powder. Both works!

 

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 1/2 cups frozen fruit

  • 1 frozen banana

  • 1 tablespoon acai berry powder/1 packet of acai puree

  • More fruits, for the topping

STEPS:

  1. In a blender, mix all the ingredients together.

  2. Pour into a bowl and decorate with toppings of choice.
