Hello, I'm Maya Shukla or The Bored Baker! I live in the rainy city of Seattle, where I cure my boredom by baking. I love to try new recipes and recreate them with a unique twist. I started this blog because my school and other activities were closed down due to COVID-19, and I became bored with nothing to do in my free time.

I started this blog with minimal baking experience and decided to bake something new each day for one year. Since then, I've completed my 50 States Baking Challenge, where I baked a signature dessert from every U.S. state (50 weeks). After that, I launched my Bread Basket Challenge, baking breads from countries around the world (35 weeks). Wanting to expand beyond baking and share quick, approachable recipes with my readers, I also started my Under 30-Minute Recipe Challenge (50 weeks). Now, I'm taking on my latest project: the Cakes Around the World Challenge, where I bake a cake inspired by a different culture or city each week.

Things to know about me:

• Some of my favorite recipes include my Mango Cake, Deep Dish Pizza, Persian Love Cake, and last but not least, my Tres Leches Cake.

• If I could be any flavor of ice cream in the world, I would choose either cookies & cream or caramel chocolate chip!
