Week 23: Seven Layer Bars (Minnesota)

Seven layer bars contain a graham cracker base. Then it's topped with chocolate, butterscotch chip, coconut, and a nut layer. Then, finally, drizzle condensed milk over the bars and bake!

You voted! The seven layer bars won.

Sweet Martha's cookies came in second place. You can vote for next week's dessert on the side of the home page, where there is a poll.

These bars go by many names. They are called seven layer bars, magic bars, coconut dream bars, and many other names.

Some people don't like butterscotch chips, and you are welcome to substitute caramel bits, Reese pieces, or even toffee bits. They all taste great!

Many recipes call for chilling your bars for 1 hour, but I simply pop my bars in the freezer for 20 minutes, and they are perfect for serving. Not only do they hold their shape, the chocolate still is gooey.

I definitely recommend making these seven layer bars. Not only can they be customizable, but they are also absolutely delicious. This is perfect for potlucks and gatherings because it's easy to make and serve. Trust me, you will not want to stop eating these seven layer bars! They are everything you want in a dessert.
