Day 22: Nutella Hand Pies

I really like this recipe because these hand pies look so cute! The great thing is that they are super easy to make!

Refrigerate for 1/2 hour.

Fill with nutella, and bake.

Serve with powdered sugar!

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

3/4 tablespoon sugar

1 1/2 cups sticks of butter cut into cubes

1/4 cup water - cold

2 tablespoons nutella

1 tablespoon milk

1 egg yolk - egg wash

STEPS:

Whisk the flour, sugar, salt together. Then add in butter and with a desk scraper cut in the butter until the lumps are the size of peas. Slowly add the water and knead for 3 minutes.

Roll the dough into a rectangle 1/3" thick and fold the dough into thirds and repeat 2 more times. Wrap the dough in plastic and rest for 1/2 hour.

Meanwhile, make nutella mixture by mixing together nutella and milk.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Roll the dough out 1/4" thick, and with an elephant (See note below for fishes) cookie cutter cut 2 out. Fill with nutella - make sure you put a LOT! 😋 Place in a baking sheet and crease the edges, add egg wash and bake for 23 minutes. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.

Enjoy!

Notes:

  • -If you want to make the fish design, cut a fish like shape and add a blueberry where the eye should be. This goes with any shape you want.
