Day 26: Pretzels

I really like pretzels because they are super easy and they are so TASTY! I took this recipe from Sally's Baking Addiction, and my pretzels really worked out well! I also made a spicy cheese dip, for by pretzels and it made this dish very special.

I like this dough recipe because you only need one bowl, and you can put all the ingredients inside of it!

After you've soaked the pretzels in the baking soda bath; bake for 12 minutes.

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

Dough

1 and 1/2 cups warm water

1 packet active dry or instant yeast (2 and 1/4 teaspoons)

1 teaspoon salt

1 Tablespoon brown sugar

1 Tablespoon unsalted butter, melted and slightly cool

2 -2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for work surface

coarse sea salt for sprinkling

Baking Soda Bath

9 cups water

1/2 cup baking soda

Cheese Dip:

1 tablespoon butter

2 tablespoons flour

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1 cup milk

1/2 cup chedder cheese

STEPS:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees, and butter a baking sheet.

Mix yeast and water and let sit for a minute. Slowly add all the ingredients making sure you add the flour last. Knead for a few minutes and let chill in the fridge for 10 minutes.

Roll dough and fold in to a circle and then twist. Flip over and repeat for remaining pretzels.

Place 1 pretzel at a time, in the bath and wait 30 seconds until placing on the baking sheet. Bake for 12 minutes and save.

Meanwhile, make cheese dip by adding butter and flour together for 3 minutes. Add milk and stir until thickened. Add cheese and spices. Serve with pretzels.

Enjoy!
