Day 70: Baked Mac and Cheese

You can make this dish two ways, baked or unbaked. Since I've only been baking dishes (except for the ice cream), I'll mainly post about the baked one, but feel free to skip out on the baking steps.

The garlic powder is pretty strong at first so if you don't want to bake this, then half the powder.

The breadcrumbs are very crucial because it doesn't let the sauce go in the oven. Make sure the breadcrumbs are covering the whole casserole pan.

This tastes so fancy and yummy, I don't think anyone would resist this mac and cheese bake!

Serves 4

Time 40 minutes

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/3 package of macaroni

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1 tablespoon whole wheat flour

  • 2 cups milk

  • 1 cup mozzarella

  • 1 cup mild cheddar

  • 1/4 cup Parmesan

  • 1/4 cup Italian blend cheese (optional)

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 4 tablespoons breadcrumbs (any kind)

STEPS:

Cook the pasta according to the box's instructions. Meanwhile melt the butter and add in the flour. Stir until fragrant. Add in the milk and stir on medium high for 3-5 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Mix in the mozzarella, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, and Parmesan and stir until all combine. Add this sauce into the pasta's pan.

Pour the mac and cheese into a 8" square casserole pan and cover two times with aluminium foil. Bake for 12 minutes and take out the foil. Bake for another 5 minutes and serve.

Enjoy!
