Day 207: French Toast Casserole

Before I begin this post I just want to talk about blog notifications. Many people have asked me why they're not getting my posts.

This is because you've been labeled "inactive". You'll be labeled "inactive" if you don't open 5+ of my posts. To become active again, simply subscribe again. If you still don't get my posts even after that, check your spam/trash folder. I hope that clears up some confusion.

This French toast casserole is so simple and fun to make. Flipping normal French toasts over the stove can be quite boring.

For this casserole, you still get that wonderful eggy, custardy filling but with less hands on work.

You don't need to serve this with extra syrups or sauces, because it's already sweet from the maple syrup inside.

Finish your French toast casserole off with a dust of powdered sugar, fresh fruit or some extra maple syrup. 😊

|Level: 👩🏽‍🍳|Time: 1 hour, 10 minutes| Serves: 4|

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • 5 eggs

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • 1 loaf of white bread, around 8 slices

STEPS:

  1. Whisk together your eggs, milk, heavy cream in a small bowl.

  2. Cut your bread in half, diagonally so that you have triangles. Arrange them in your casserole pan and pour your custard over the bread. Let the custard soak into the bread for at least 20 minutes.

  3. Then bake for 40 minutes at a 350 degree preheated oven. I don't cover mine because I like the tops a little crispy. Once ready dust with powdered sugar and add topping if you would like. Serve warm.

Enjoy!
