Day 139: Strawberry Trifle

This strawberry trifle is the perfect dessert for any summer picnic. It's loaded with tons of strawberries and fluffy whipped cream.

You can use either vanilla or angel cake, both work. You'll want to cut it up into 2-3" wide cubes.

The trick is to keep your strawberries pressed firmly against the glass container.

Otherwise, you won't have the "arch" effect with the strawberries and whipped cream.

If you don't have strawberries at hand you can make this with blueberries, raspberries, or have a mixed berry trifle.

Instead of whipped cream, you can use pudding. Another variation is to add whipped cream to your pudding. All work.

RECIPE:

INGREDIENTS:

  • Vanilla or Angel Cake (You can use my vanilla cake here)

  • 3 cups strawberries, cut

  • 4 cups heavy whipping cream

STEPS:

  1. Cut your cake into 3" wide cubes. In a glass container press the strawberries against it. Fill the middle with strawberries then add 1/2 of the whipped cream.

  2. Add cake cubes next, and the rest of the whipped cream. Finish off with a floral design with leftover strawberries.
